When Pigs Fly (idiom)

Have you ever heard someone say “when pigs fly”? It sounds funny, but pigs can’t fly! We use this idiom when we think something will never happen or is very unlikely to happen.

For example: Tom’s mother asks him to clean his room. Tom says, “Sure—when pigs fly!”

This means that Tom will probably never clean his room.

Now let’s get personal

Think of a few unlikely situations for you. For example, in my case:

ride a hot air ballon ➤ I’ll ride a hot air balloon when pigs fly.
